BIO: Joshua Breslow was born in the Bronx, NY in 1974. There, he lived with his family until college at the age of 18.
His artistic style began at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh which he attended from 1992- 1997. Joshua got his first experience with metal by casting bronze. He worked as a student assistant along side T.C. Farley and absorbed Farley’s knowledge of foundry work and mold making. Joshua also majored in painting and developed his own unique style of depiction. Joshua received his BFA in painting and sculpture in 1997

Joshua began graduate school at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania in the spring of 1999, which initiated a pivotal point in his subject matter. Joshua began to put more emphasis on creating a personal narrative and documenting his Grandparent's experiences in World War II. Technically, Breslow was fortunate to study with a another gifted craftsman, Bob Griffith. Joshua adopted traditional metalsmithing techniques and he experimented with fusing, slumping and casting glass. Looking to further develop his painting Joshua turned solely to abstraction and created large scale paintings and prints. Joshua graduated with his MFA in metals in winter of 2000.

Shortly after graduation, Joshua returned to New York and began teaching. Joshua is currently involved in curating, publishing and exhibiting. His work has evolved both technically and conceptually as Joshua continues to let his life experiences dictate his art making.
